The Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) was established in March 1997 Pursuant to investment law no. 230 of 1989 amended by law no. 8 of 1997 and Since that date GASCO started practicing its activities in the field of transporting, distributing, supplying, processing of natural gas.
The national gas grid is the vital link in the energy chain between entry points and exit points it is one of the largest and longest in Africa and the Middle East, with a length that reaches 7,920 kilometers, compared to 2,800 kilometers when GASCO was first established in 1997 this led to an increase of transportation capacity by more than six times to reach 250 BSCMD and 8.83 BSCF per day in Q-1 of 2020, compared to 37 million cubic meters [1.31 BSCF] per day in March 1997
DASHOUR compressor station was established in October 2011 in order to supply natural gas to the industrial sector and Power Stations in Upper Egypt to contribute in the state’s plan to develop the Upper Egypt region.
GASCO is responsible for supplying & distributing gas in two industrial concessions (10th of Ramadan Industrial area & Free zone Industrial Area in Alexandria) with total customers of 432 customer
Western Desert Gas Complex (WDGC) Within the framework of GASCO Company role in supporting the national economy and providing strategic products to the local market, the company established the Western Desert Gas Complex in 1997 and the operation began in May 2000 to maximize the benefit from gases produced in the Western desert area.
Amerya LPG Recovery plant In order to complete the effective role of GASCO and according to the distinguished results achieved by the company in operating the Western Desert Gas Complex (WDGC), the management and operation of the Amerya LPG Recovery plant was entrusted to GASCO in July 2000.
